THINK GREEN AS YOU GO ABOUT DOING YOUR SPRING TASKS

Think Green
Spring Tasks

With spring arriving in the northern hemisphere, as you do the tasks that you have to get done with its arrival, Think Green:

  • need to buy a product, buy something natural (decrease Environmental Footprint)
  • or buy a product made in your area (to decrease your CO2 footprint)
  • if you are spring cleaning , as a friend of mine is doing right now, take advantage and get rid of those things you don’t like or don’t use; think of them as going to a new home where they will be welcome and replace them, if needed, with things you really like and will use. This will help you feel better and green your life.
  • doing spring cleaning throw away as little as possible-recycle what is no longer use-able, give away what still good, but not good for you Reduce, Re-use, Re-cycle).

Think Green: Raking Leaves
If you have left raking leaves to the spring, don’t throw them in the garbage, compost them.

LESS LAWN

Think Green
Garden Planning
Instead of having lots of lawn, Think Green and cut down on your lawn. Lawns require alot of maintencance (weeds, cutting-CO2 production, watering, etc) so do something else with that green space, something greener. If you want or need some lawn plant in in slow growing seed to decrease maintenance demands.  See my post No Lawn for more on this and ideas on how to proceed.

HERITAGE SEED

I will stick with the theme of thinking about your garden this week-always a nice thing to think about in winter.

Thinking Green:
Plant endanger or heritage plants-support bio-diversity and be green. Check out the two links below to get your started.

Eat Out Green

Think Green: Going out to eat, which is a nice treat to stomp down the winter blues, make your trip out a green one

Suggestions: >eat at a restaurant that uses local produce-↓CO2;
>eat at an organic restaurant-↓ the use of -cides (pesticides, etc. whatever you argue about the use of cides they are still poisons, and the less poisons used the better);
>eat vegitarian-↓CO2-raising meat produces more CO2.
All green choices-enjoy time out and feel even happier by making a green choice.
